Mom’s and hearts matter, too!
Below are some ways you can help reduce your own cardiac risk factors.

Healthy Lifestyle – good nutrition and exercise benefit your heart health and overall health.  Consider your best body weight and Body Mass Index,  work with your Family Physician, Registered Dietitian, health professional, and or fitness coach to develop a plan that can work for you.  Involving a fitness and nutrition tracker or diary is valuable to recording your progress andy staying on track!

Emotional and Parenting Support – minimizing stress and anxiety is important for any parent.  Access your community of supports and/or seek professional counselling and parent to parent support to improve your emotional health.

Regular Health Monitoring – ensure you continue to work with your family physician and inform them of any health concerns that occurred during pregnancy and birth.  You will want to continue to monitor and record your own blood pressures and take this information to your physician.  In many cases blood pressure medication will be involved to benefit your cardiac health.

The study team will help to identify other health aspects for monitoring by you and your family physician.
